How does Read help you?
Personalization:
Once you sign-up for Read, the app's algorithm will personalize a feed of recommended articles for you based on what you've told us about yourself and your Read history from here on out. This includes, your profession, specialization, and even additional specializations that may relate to your field or interest. The more you tell us at this stage, the better our recommendations for you will be on the featured feed. You can also follow specific journals, collections, or keywords that you are interested in by going into each of their respective tabs and tapping “Edit”. Contrary to journals, which provides all the latest papers from a specific journal, collections are custom-made by other Read users, institutions, and publishers. In addition, if you have your notifications on, we can send you emails of the weekly "Most Read" articles from your fields of interest. All these functions are geared towards helping you reduce the time used to research what you want to read, by providing an accurate estimation of what you would want to read and should read to stay ahead of the curve with the latest medical research.
Institutional Access: Connecting to your Institution
When you login to Read, you will initially only have access to free-access papers. For paywalled articles, you will need to login to your institution’s library to get access. By connecting to your institution through Read, this will allow us to automatically retrieve the full-text articles for you from any of the journals that your library subscribes to. Now, you have access to several medical journals, on-the-go. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to setup your Institutional Access.
Interact with other Practitioners and Share Articles with Colleagues:
Through Read you can engage in discussions with other practitioners by sharing your ideas and providing feedback in the comments section of articles, and by giving them a thumbs up or down. You can also save any articles that you find valuable by favoriting them and creating your very own 'Personal Collection', which can be organized, reviewed, and published for others to follow. Sharing is made very easy, as individual papers and personal collections can be shared via emails and other applications, such as Twitter and Messenger, just to name a few. With these features, Read makes it very easy to access and share articles with other colleagues or to a community like a classroom or medical staff meeting. Click here for more details on Starting and Sharing a Collection.
Obtain CME Credits (U.S. Only):
With so many tasks at hand it's not always easy for physicians to set aside time to attend the conferences or support activities required to receive CME credits and retain their medical licenses. With Read being an approved educational activity, you can receive CME credits proportional to the time you spend reading articles on Read mobile, saving you additional time on top of not having to search for what articles are best to read. Click here for more details on How To Receive CME Credits Through Read.
Note: You must be a physician based in the U.S. to be eligible to receive CME credits for your time spent on the mobile (Android & iPhone) versions of the app.
