Sharing Collections of papers is incredibly helpful in connecting with your community and disseminating valuable, relevant information. There are a variety of scenarios where sharing Collections can be maximized and the process is very simple! Here we will discuss some of the methods on how to maximize sharing Collections in Read.
Benefits of Collections:
- Based on your field and specialty, there are thousands of Collections that have already been curated by Read users, institutions, and medical professionals that are ready to share.
- You can curate a Personal Collection with articles that are most relevant to you and share them among your peers and other users in Read.
- Read mobile allows easy access to millions of articles as the application does not require users to re-login or click through multiple links each time they want to view a paper, allowing recipients of a Collection to have easy accessibility to shared articles.
- Collections are all copyright compliant as they only share the citations of the articles. This means that the person you're sharing the citations with would have to have their own Institutional Access through Read in order to access the full-text of the article (if pay-walled).
- Read automatically syncs with other applications that make links to Collections shareable, even if the recipient does not have Read.
- Millions of medical papers are readily available and constantly added from PubMed's database, which can instantly be added to a Collection.
- Collections can help users find medical papers that are both relevant to them and capture their interest.
- Reading papers from a Collection will allow Read to make recommendations that are similar to the articles from the Collection.
- Push Notifications can be set to make sure updates to a Collection will notify its followers.
Use Cases:
- Lectures & Journal Clubs: Professors can easily share assigned readings and make sure their students are notified when any changes are made to the Collection. Students can also share valuable papers with their peers, and with so many articles and Collections available, journal clubs should have no issue finding new weekly/monthly content.
- Team Meetings: There are hundreds of Public Collections that are sorted by field and specialty that have already been curated by medical professionals from other universities or hospitals, making it easier to compile Collections and know which articles and Collections are best to share with colleagues.
- Librarians: Librarians can capture engagement by curating Personal Collections for their community, and by reaching out to other universities and hospitals to see what articles worth adding to their Collection. Read makes this process much easier because articles and collections are all on the same platform and easily shareable among different communities.
- Quality Improvement & Current Awareness: With thousands of articles being published everyday, you can help keep your community stay updated to the latest developments in their field in order to deliver the best quality of care.
- Read User: By publicizing a Personal Collection or sharing another Read user's you are creating engagement, an opportunity for dialogue, with hundreds of thousands of like-minded Read users. Users can share their thoughts about the latest research with their colleagues, and also create discussions through the comments section of an article. The more you share Collections, the more you are able to discuss and engage with other users just like you.
