- Go to the article you want to grab citations from and click on the download PDF icon. In order to gain access to PDFs via Read we suggest setting up your Institutional Access, so you can have access to both open-access papers and paywalled papers that your institution has subscriptions to.
- Select the OK option to save the paper.
- On the Mendeley website, go to the Library tab. You must be signed into Mendeley to do this.
- Once you are on the Library tab, select the Add option on the left, and choose Import Document.
- Find the PDF document that you previously downloaded and Open it.
- All articles from Read that follow this process will be saved into the All Documents folder within Mendeley.
Once an article and its citation have been saved to Mendeley, it can be easily accessed directly from the Mendeley browser page.
Desktop App:
- Go to the article you want to grab citations from, and click on the download PDF icon. In order to gain access to PDFs via Read we suggest setting up your Institutional Access, so you can have access to both open-access papers and paywalled papers that your institution has subscriptions to.

- On the Desktop App, click on the Add Paper icon and click on Add Files. You must be signed into Mendeley to do this.
- You will be prompted to find the PDF document that you previously downloaded. Once you've selected it, press Open.
- All articles from Read that follow this process will be saved into the All Documents folder within the Mendeley desktop application.
Once an article and its citation have been saved to Mendeley, it can be easily accessed directly from the Mendeley browser page.
